Intermediate Cold Weather Gloves
The Intermediate Cold Weather Gloves (ICWG) are designed to be worn in cold weather environments to protect the user from the elements.
Design
The ICWG shall consist of an outside shell constructed from a three-layer laminate consisting of a nylon taslan face backed by a waterproof layer and lightweight knit lining in accordance with MIL-DTL-32698. The shell shall include a water-repellant treatment on the face, and water-repellent goatskin leather. The leather used on the palm, thumb, and back of the first finger shall be backed by the waterproof material. The fourchettes shall also be constructed from the leather, and an additional strip of leather shall be superimposed over the shell at the knuckles to provide added protection. The suede side of the leather shall be used to construct a "nose wipe" on the back of the thumb, and a patch that shall be superimposed over the thumb crotch for added durability. The glove shall be insulated on the back of the hand and thumb, with the insulation material. The full inside lining shall be constructed from napped wool; this inside lining shall be tacked to the shell at several locations, to include each fingertip, to ensure the lining material does not separate from the shell. The gauntlet shall be lined with 70 denier nylon ripstop, conforming to MIL-DTL-32699, and have an attached inside cuff. The glove shall have a curved finger design, an elasticized inner wrist and an adjustable strap at the back of the wrist to provide a close fit, with a long gauntlet that shall extend up the forearm with a manual adjustment feature at the hem to provide desired closure over various clothing layers. The outside of the shell shall have a feature at the side seam that enables the gloves to be clipped together as a pair when not in use. The shell shall have a label to identify the item, its size, and use and care.
