The IOTV lower back protector provides additional protection for the lower spine and pelvis. The lower back protector attaches to the inside of the back carrier using two nylon straps and snap fasteners.

The lower back protector assembly is made up of a lower pack protector carrier with a removable ballistic insert. It has a utility channel underneath the PALS webbing, and the interior fabric is nylon mesh.
