New York Quartermaster Procurement Agency

The New York Quartermaster Procurement Agency (NYQMPA) was initially intended to serve two purposes. It was to succeed the Philadelphia Depot as the main center for the procurement of Army clothing and textiles, and it was to serve also as a testing ground for collaborative procurement of these items by both Army and Navy. History

  • 1945-03: began as Quartermaster Purchasing Office New York (QMPONY) [2]
  • 1947-07: changed to New York Quartermaster Purchasing Office (NYQMPO)
  • 1949-05-09: divided into New York Quartermaster Purchasing Office and New York Quartermaster Procurement Administrative Agency
  • 1949-11: recombined into New York Quartermaster Procurement Agency [3]
  • 1952-10-1 through 1953-10-31: procurement of clothing and equipage had been assigned to ASTAPA.
  • 1953-03: reverted to New York Quartermaster Purchasing Office
  • 1953-10: New York Quartermaster Purchasing Agency
  • 1954-07: NYQMPA was discontinued, transferred to and merged with the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot [4]
