The Soldier Protection System (SPS) provides the Soldier with a modular, scalable integrated system of mission tailorable ballistic protective subsystems at a reduced, from current, weight while maintaining the same level of ballistic protection and mobility provided by the current PPE systems.

Subsystems

• Integrated Head Protection System (IHPS [helmet, maxillofacial, and hearing])^[1]
• Vital Torso Protection (VTP [hard armor front, back, and side plates])
  • VTP variants of ESAPI/XSAPI and ESBI/XSBI
• Torso and Extremity Protection (TEP [soft armor])
  • Modular Scalable Vest (MSV)^[2]
    • scalable between Low Vis carrier (concealable, low profile), and Outer carrier (plate carrier, full tactical) configurations
  • Ballistic Combat Shirt (BCS)^[3]
  • Blast Pelvic Protector (BPP)
  • Load Distribution System (LDS) Ballistic Battle Belt (B3) as a stand-alone weight distribution system (WDS)
    • for the capability to redistribute the weight burden from the shoulders to the hips
• Transition Combat Eye Protection (TCEP) Military Combat Eye Protection (MCEP)^[4][5]
• Integrated Soldier Sensor System (ISSS) which measures blast and blunt trauma (head) along with a physiological status monitor.
