The FR next-to-skin underwear is a flame resistant version of the polyester silkweight underwear. It will provide improved moisture management and comfort when worn in intermediate to cold weather environments. In addition, it will provide Marines with FR protection when needed. The FR Silkweight Underwear can be worn as part of the Mountain Cold Weather Clothing System or Flame Resistant Organizational Gear.

Description

The undershirt is a mock turtle neck undershirt with long sleeves and self fabric cuffs.

The drawers have a front fly, a covered elastic waist, and self fabric cuffs.

Material

The underwear was initially fielded in Desert Tan, but in 4Q09 will be converted to a Coyote color in a silk weight modacrylic/rayon blend material. The fabric is quick drying, moisture wicking, and includes antimicrobial properties.
