Arctic Trouser Shell and Liner
The M-1951 arctic trouser ensemble is made up of a shell and a detachable mohair frieze liner which is attached inside the shell. The trousers are worn over the field trousers when the soldier must remain inactive (in a listening post, for example) and when temperatures of -50 to -60°F (-46 to -51°C) are encountered. [1]
Description
The shell trousers have side hand openings with flaps, a right hip pocket with flap, leg cargo pockets with flaps and tie tapes (all having snap fastener closures), suspender loops, inside button-tabs for attaching the liner, draw strings in waistband and cuffs.
